Hyundai has revealed the new-generation Tucson at a media event in South Korea. The 2027 Hyundai Tucson is set to go on sale in its home market in October 2026 and comes with updates to its dimensions, powertrains, safety features, technology and suspension.

The new Tucson is larger than the outgoing model and will be offered with turbo-petrol and hybrid powertrains. Hyundai has also made changes to the SUV’s aerodynamics and cabin. An India launch has not been confirmed yet.

New Hyundai Tucson Gets Bigger

The new-generation Tucson is 60mm longer and 40mm wider than the outgoing model, while its wheelbase has increased by 30mm. The larger dimensions have also improved cabin space.

Hyundai says second-row headroom has increased by 29mm to 1,031mm. The rear doors can now open up to 83 degrees, compared with 73 degrees in the previous-generation model.

New Tucson Gets Two Powertrain Options

The new Hyundai Tucson will be available with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 193hp and 265Nm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and produces 13hp more than the corresponding unit in the outgoing model.

The second option is a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain. It develops a combined 245hp and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 17.4kpl.

The hybrid version also gets an Inertial Driving Guidance function, which can prompt the driver to lift off the accelerator when suitable to help improve fuel efficiency.

Improved Aerodynamics And Suspension

Hyundai has reduced the Tucson’s drag coefficient from 0.33 to 0.30 on both petrol and hybrid versions. The SUV gets active air flaps, a roof spoiler, a dedicated rear bumper spoiler and redesigned 17-inch wheels as part of the aerodynamic improvements.

The suspension setup has also been revised. Hyundai has strengthened the front suspension mounting points and the underbody structure supporting the rear suspension. A new suspension valve has been added to improve ride comfort and body control.

The hybrid version also gets an E-Traction function, which uses the drive motor to help reduce body movement while driving.

New Tucson Gets More Safety Features

The new-generation Tucson gets nine airbags as standard. Safety and driver-assistance features include navigation-based adaptive cruise control and front and rear collision-avoidance assist.

Another addition is the memory-based reverse assist system, which can automatically steer the SUV while retracing a previously recorded route.

The SUV also gets a Ground View function that displays the surface beneath the vehicle on the infotainment screen, which can help when driving over uneven or difficult terrain.

New Hyundai Tucson Gets Updated Cabin

The Tucson gets a redesigned cabin with a floating-style dashboard, D-cut steering wheel and a slim digital driver’s display.

Depending on the variant, the central touchscreen will be available in 12.9-inch and 17-inch sizes. Hyundai’s Pleos Connect system is also offered, featuring built-in Gleo AI and support for third-party applications through the Pleos App Market.

The SUV will be available with four monotone and three dual-tone interior themes.

New Tucson Gets Fresh Design

The new Tucson follows Hyundai’s ‘Art of Steel’ design language. At the front, it features vertical H-shaped LED daytime running lights with a slim horizontal light strip.

The rear gets a new prism-effect lighting design, while other exterior elements include roof rails, flared wheel arches and conventional pull-type door handles.

The rugged XRT variant gets a different grille, wheel-arch garnish and skid plate. Hyundai will offer the new Tucson in eight exterior colours, including five new options: Serenity White Pearl, Driftwood Grey Matte, Driftwood Grey Metallic, Redrock Orange Matte and Goyo Copper Pearl.

New Hyundai Tucson India Launch

The new-generation Hyundai Tucson is scheduled to go on sale in South Korea in October 2026. Hyundai has not yet confirmed an India launch date for the SUV.

If introduced in India, the new Tucson could bring its updated design, technology, safety features and hybrid powertrain to the market. However, Hyundai is yet to announce its plans for the Indian-spec version.
