The Indian SUV market is set for several new launches ahead of the 2026 Diwali festive season. Automakers across mass-market and luxury segments are preparing to introduce new models and updated versions of existing SUVs between September and November.
Here are five upcoming SUVs expected to launch in India before Diwali 2026.
Hyundai Bayon
Expected Laaunch: October 2026
Hyundai is preparing to introduce the Bayon in India as a new SUV positioned in the compact and midsize SUV space. The model is expected to feature a distinctive exterior design along with a technology-focused cabin.
The India-spec Bayon is expected to be offered with turbo-petrol and diesel engine options. More details regarding its specifications, variants and pricing are expected closer to its launch.
Mahindra Thar Facelift
Launch Date: September 22, 2026
Mahindra is set to unveil the updated Thar on September 22. The 2026 Thar facelift is expected to receive several cosmetic changes along with additional features, while its overall design and off-road-focused character will remain largely unchanged.
The SUV is expected to continue with the existing 1.5-litre and 2.2-litre diesel engines, along with the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit. There has also been speculation about the return of a soft-top version, although Mahindra has not confirmed this yet.
Audi Q3
Expected Launch: October 2026
Audi is also preparing to launch the third-generation Q3 in India around October. The new-generation luxury SUV gets significant design and technology updates over the outgoing model.
The India-spec Q3 is expected to retain a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol TFSI engine, paired with an all-wheel-drive system. The new model will feature a redesigned exterior and a more technology-focused cabin as Audi looks to strengthen its entry-level SUV portfolio in India.
Volvo EX90
Launch Date: October 12, 2026
Volvo will introduce its flagship electric SUV, the EX90, in India on October 12. The three-row electric SUV combines a minimalist exterior with a technology-focused cabin and a range of advanced safety features.
The EX90 is equipped with a 106kWh battery pack and offers a claimed range of up to 625km. Its dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup produces 462PS, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0-100kmph in 5.5 seconds.
Renault Duster Hybrid
Expected Launch: November 2026
Renault is expected to expand the new Duster lineup in India with a strong-hybrid powertrain around November. The hybrid version is expected to retain the overall design and equipment package of the petrol-powered Duster while introducing a new electrified powertrain.
The expected setup combines a 1.8-litre petrol engine with a 1.4kWh battery pack, with a combined output expected to be around 160PS.
5 SUVs Coming Before Diwali 2026
The months leading up to Diwali 2026 are expected to see launches across different SUV segments. The Mahindra Thar facelift will bring updates to an established off-road SUV, while the Hyundai Bayon and Renault Duster Hybrid will add more choices to the mainstream SUV market.
Meanwhile, the Audi Q3 and Volvo EX90 will expand the options available to luxury SUV and electric vehicle buyers. With several launches scheduled around the festive period, the Indian SUV market is set for increased activity through September and November.
