Mercedes-Benz India Adds AI Vehicle Scanner and New Service Offers

Mercedes-Benz India has expanded its after-sales initiatives with the introduction of an AI-powered vehicle inspection scanner, the Service Select programme for older cars and a new luxury service facility in Mumbai.

The AI-based vehicle scanner has been installed at the Landmark Cars facility in Jogeshwari. It is designed to make the initial inspection process quicker by automatically examining a vehicle’s exterior and generating a digital condition report within minutes.

AI Scanner Inspects Vehicle Exterior

The new scanner uses multiple high-resolution cameras to capture images of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle from different angles as it passes through the system. The AI-based technology then analyses the images to identify visible exterior damage and other issues.

The system can also assess tyre tread and add the findings to the vehicle’s digital service record. The inspection information is shared with Mercedes-Benz systems and can be accessed by service advisors on a tablet.

This allows service teams to present the vehicle’s condition to customers digitally before repair or maintenance work begins, potentially reducing the time spent on manual inspections.

Digital Vehicle Records for Future Visits

The AI scanner creates a 360-degree digital record of the vehicle’s exterior condition. By documenting visible marks, damage and tyre condition during each visit, the system can help customers compare the vehicle’s condition over time.

Mercedes-Benz says the digital approach can reduce paperwork during service reception while giving customers a clearer understanding of the work that may be required.

Customers can review the inspection results with the service advisor and decide which recommended repairs or service jobs they want to approve.

The technology is already being used in several international markets, including Germany, Italy, South Korea, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Turkey.

Service Select Targets Older Mercedes-Benz Cars

Mercedes-Benz India has also introduced Service Select for vehicles that are more than seven years old. Under the programme, customers can receive discounts of up to 25% on selected parts.

The programme also includes benefits under Mobilio Light and a two-year warranty on parts covered under the offering. Mercedes-Benz says Service Select is intended to make maintaining older vehicles more manageable while supporting long-term ownership and vehicle value.

The automaker also offers other ownership-cost initiatives, including the STAR EASE Service Package, a three-year standard warranty and extended warranty options of up to six years.

New Luxury Service Facility Opens in Mumbai

The company has simultaneously expanded its service network in Mumbai through a new facility operated by Landmark Cars in Jogeshwari.

Mercedes-Benz is positioning the facility as its largest luxury service centre in Mumbai. With the addition, the brand now has 14 sales and service facilities across the city.

Nationally, Mercedes-Benz India has more than 90 service touchpoints and over 1,200 service bays, supported by a workforce of more than 4,200 service employees.

The company plans to increase its MAR 20X touchpoints to 20 by the end of 2026. Mercedes-Benz has also stated that its franchise partners have committed more than ₹450 crore towards investments in its retail and service network.

Focus on Faster and More Transparent Service

The combination of AI-based inspection, digital vehicle records and dedicated service programmes highlights Mercedes-Benz India's focus on improving the ownership experience beyond the vehicle itself.

The new scanner could make vehicle inspections faster and more transparent, while Service Select gives owners of older Mercedes-Benz cars another option to manage maintenance costs. The expanded service infrastructure is also expected to strengthen after-sales support as the brand continues to grow its presence in India.
