Mercedes-Benz India Launches E25-Compliant Cars Amid Biofuel Push

Mercedes-Benz India has started introducing E25-compliant vehicles in the country as India moves towards greater adoption of ethanol-blended fuels. The move is aimed at preparing the company's portfolio for potential future regulations related to fuel compatibility and emissions.

The German luxury carmaker has updated its vehicle range in anticipation of evolving fuel standards, according to Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer. E25 fuel refers to petrol blended with up to 25% ethanol.

India is promoting higher ethanol blending as part of efforts to reduce crude oil imports, lower dependence on international energy markets, and support the use of domestically produced biofuels.

Petrol and Electric Models Continue Together

Mercedes-Benz India continues to offer a combination of internal combustion engine vehicles and electric models. While the company is expanding its electric vehicle portfolio, demand for conventional luxury cars remains strong.

The automaker has also observed growing customer interest in electric mobility and hybrid technologies as buyers increasingly consider fuel efficiency, emissions, and advanced powertrain options while purchasing premium vehicles.

Luxury Car Market Expected to Remain Stable

Mercedes-Benz India expects the luxury car market to remain relatively stable this year, with sales likely to record single-digit growth. The company remains focused on introducing new products and technologies across different powertrain categories.

The introduction of E25-compliant vehicles reflects the automaker's approach of preparing its India portfolio for future changes in fuel policy while continuing to offer customers a wider choice of petrol, electric, and electrified vehicles.
