Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Launched in India at Rs 78.5 Lakh

Mercedes-Benz has launched the GLC Electric in India at an introductory price of Rs 78.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric luxury SUV is available in a single fully loaded 400 4MATIC variant and is locally assembled at the company's Chakan plant in Pune.

The GLC Electric has received over 1,000 bookings, and Mercedes-Benz has announced that the SUV is sold out until March 2027. It becomes the entry-level electric SUV in the brand's Indian portfolio and is based on a dedicated electric vehicle platform rather than the architecture used by the petrol and diesel GLC.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric: Design and Features

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric gets a distinctive exterior design with an illuminated front grille featuring pixel-style lighting elements. It also comes with LED headlamps featuring star-shaped daytime running lights, connected-looking LED tail lamps and AMG Line styling elements. The SUV is offered in six exterior colour options, including Obsidian Black, Lavender Silver, Sheer Blue and Alpine Grey.

Inside, the highlight is a large 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen that extends across the dashboard and integrates the driver's display, central infotainment system and front passenger screen. Other features include a panoramic glass roof with adjustable transparency, ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charging and a 15-speaker Burmester 3D sound system.

The electric SUV also gets heated and massage functions for the front seats, a powered tailgate and a Level 2 ADAS suite. Safety features include nine airbags and a 360-degree camera.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric: Battery, Range and Performance

The India-spec GLC Electric 400 4MATIC is powered by a 94kWh battery pack paired with two electric motors, one on each axle. The all-wheel-drive setup produces a combined output of 490 PS and 800 Nm of torque.

Mercedes-Benz claims a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 4.3 seconds. The SUV has a claimed WLTP range of 711 km on a single charge.

For charging, the GLC Electric supports DC fast charging at up to 330kW. With a compatible charger, it can gain up to 300 km of driving range in around 10 minutes. The battery can also be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes under suitable conditions.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is priced at Rs 78.50 lakh (ex-showroom) for the single 400 4MATIC variant. With local assembly at the Chakan facility, the electric SUV joins the brand's growing range of locally assembled luxury vehicles.

With its long claimed driving range, dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup and technology-focused cabin, the GLC Electric expands Mercedes-Benz's electric SUV portfolio in India.
